Winter Wonderland

While my family has been in So. Cal. I have been stuck in the snow.  This picture was taken from my front door, that is my car in the background.  Some of the snow drifts are deeper than this one right here.  This has been the biggest snow storm in the Portland area since 1980 and the most snow in December since the 1968 and it is still snowing.  I came back up from California to work, but because of the snow the office has been closed all week and will probably be closed this whole week, so I basically came up here for no reason.  Hopefully I can make it down for Christmas.

It's a girl!!

We had our ultrasound today. Here are some pictures of our new little girl, her profile and her foot. She was a bit stubborn about having her picture taken so we didn't get many good shots. We are all so excited the kids have been thanking Jesus everytime we pray that we are having a "baby sister."

Christmas Program

Kelsea had her Christmas program with school last night. It's amazing how they get all these little kids to pay attention enough that they are willing to attempt a program. Her school is from 3 year olds - 2nd grade. The 4 year olds sang 3 songs, Mary Had a Baby, No Room in the Inn, Holly Jolly Christmas. Of course, Kelsea was adorable. She told me before her program that she was going to sing really loud because some of the grandparents are so old they can't hear so she has to be really loud. The boys did really well, Hunter bobbed along with the singing, he got a bit squirmy when the groups were switching out, but he clapped at the end of songs and had a huge smile. Rusty sang along with the songs, making up most of the words and then clapping when each song ended.

I wonder

How is it that the pregnant mommy ends up holding both boys while daddy stands back and smiles for our new picture? Also, notice Kelsea's eyes, she thought she was being so sneaky peaking through a tiny crack in her eyes. She said "everybody will think my eyes are closed ."Yesterday we went geocaching and it was really cold and windy, I carried Hunter in the backpack and at one point the wind was blowing so hard Rusty was falling all over so I picked him up. I don't really mind, I just think it's kind of funny.

Thanksgiving

The Girls (My mom, Sheryl, Kelsea and I) went to an afternoon tea where we had the chance to dress up in crazy clothes, hats and jewelry which Kelsea thought was cool. I think her favorite part though was the chilled strawberry soup which was kind of like yogurt.

We went to my sister's house in Sacramento for Thanksgiving. We had a great time with our family. My sister and I got up and went to Walmart at 5am on Friday and got some great deals. My mom bought our nephews a trampoline for an early Christmas present which we all enjoyed. The kids had a great time making gingerbread men and a gingerbread house. We went to see Bolt which was an adventure having 6 adults, and 6 kids (2 of which are only 1). We even had a chance to go geocaching with the family, one of the caches we found was in a rubber rat which of course the boys thought was cool!!

The Throne!!

Scott and I have had a rather frustrating day and a half or so. To be blunt Kelsea was constipated yesterday and she didn't want to try to go to the bathroom because she said it was going to hurt. Scott decided to give her a pencil to bite down on (I was at the store) telling her it would make it easier. Well, she went and when she came out Scott asked her where the pencil was. Well, I'm sure you can guess, it was flushed. This was a full size almost brand new pencil so it was beyond us how it could even get past the curves. Well, come to find out after buying plumbing tools and taking the toilet apart sticking 25 feet of wire line down the toilet, we tipped the toilet and half the pencil falls right out. We ended up getting the whole thing out, thanks to Scott but only after several hours of fighting with this pencil and a couple trips to Home Depot!! I told Scott he has to remember she is only 4 years old and has to be specific about where to put things. Although she definitely should have known pencils do not go in the toilet!!

Like Father Like Son

This will probably only be funny to those who really know me, or knew me when I was a young child.  So, today we (Rusty, Kelsea, and I) were out treasure hunting and when we got back to the car I helped Kelsea get her boots off while Rusty began walking in the direction of our house.  I told him to come back to the car and asked him what he was doing.  He said that he wanted to walk home, alone.  I told him that he could not do that and he responded by saying that he knew the way.  I told him that I could not let him go because someone might take him.  This is where he did something which totally reminded me of myself when I was little.  He said, "me push them . . . if someone takes me, me push them into the grass."  I sat back and laughed as I proceeded to put him in his car seat to drive home.

Treasure Hunt

Last Saturday was Scott's birthday. He wanted some GPS man toy, for hiking trails. Well, as it turns out we can use it for Geocaching, which is fancy for treasure hunting. People hide these treasure boxes all over the place and register them online and you look at where they are and use the GPS thing to get the cordinates and find it. When you find the treasure you sign in the book that you were there and take a treasure and leave a treasure. At first treasure box Rusty picked a squirt gun and Kelsea picked a car, which was pretty easy to find and the second was a bit of a challenge. We had to hike through chest high grass (not on a trail) and found the treasure in a black berry bush, then hike out in the dark because we forgot how quick it gets dark during daylight savings!!

Halloween

The kids had a great halloween this year. We went to a friends church where they had games and a giant bouncer. Most of the pictures didn't come out well of the games but we do have some....

Field trip

Kelsea's school went on a fieldtrip last week to a pumpkin patch which I got to go on since Scott took her last year. We rode the bus which of course was an adventure. We went on a hay ride, Kelsea sat by her friend Trenton who she says she is going to marry. She picked a pumpkin (because we needed another one!!), they had a hay maze and she made a dirt baby. We had alot of fun.

Pumpkin Guts

Kelsea was so excited about the pumpkins she immediately started asking when she could take out the guts. We waited until this past Sunday so the pumpkins hopefully wouldn't shrivel up much. The kids loved it! Hunter was absolutely beside himself, he loved eating the guts (even though he made an ugly face when he tasted it) and I caught him a couple of times chomping on seeds. Hunter wore himself out though, by the end he was asleep in the recliner.

Pumpkin Patch

Scott's family came up for a visit last weekend. Since we moved here to Oregon his parent's have come up every October and we have gone to a pumpkin patch. This year we were also joined by Scott's Uncle Mike and Aunt Kathy and his brother Mike and wife Bria. We went to Kruger's Pumpkin Patch, we did the corn maze, the pumpkin catapult, the kids played in the kiddie area, we watched a puppet show, climbed the hay pyramid, and of course picked pumpkins. The kids got a little carried away grabbing pumpkins and picked 14!! Of course since Grandpa and Grandma were there they got all the pumpkins. We also went to see Multnomah Falls with the family and spent some time at the house relaxing.
